All food provides energy. But what could be a better source of food energy than chocolate and nuts? Chocolate is an antioxidant-rich superfood. Nuts are traditionally considered as foods that provide a high amount of energy. Both together can boost your energy levels and increase your motivation. Try these Chocolate Almond Energy Bite, they are a perfect snack for after school, post-workout or as an afternoon pick-me-up.
Chocolate and Almond No-Bake Energy Bites
Preparation time: 15 mins
Chill for 3 hours
Makes: 20-24 bites
Food Processor or Blender
Air tight container
1 cup figs (12-14 figs)
½ cup creamy almond butter
¼ cup of American Heritage Historic Chocolate Drink Mix (melted)
¼ cup of sliced almonds
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
small dash of salt
1 tablespoon water
Melt American Heritage Historic Chocolate Drink Mix in microwave for 30 seconds, stir and repeat. Stir until smooth, put aside.
Place the figs (I used Nutra-Fig: Golden California Figs) almond butter, melted American Heritage Historic Chocolate, almonds, chia seeds, vanilla, and salt into a food processor (or blender) and pulse until all of the ingredients are blended together and forms a thick dough.
If the dough doesn’t come together add 1 tablespoon of water
Roll the dough into balls and then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Let the bites set for about 3 hours or overnight in the refrigerator. You can also place in the freezer.
They are easy to make and unequivocally delicious!
