Looking for something special for Mother’s Day? Try our Rose and Pink Salt Chocolate Bark made with American Heritage Chocolate and Himalayan Salt with a touch of rose petals.
Over 300 million years ago, an ancient ocean existed where the Himalayan Mountains are today. When the ocean dried up, a massive mineral rich salt deposit was left behind, buried by the natural forces that created the mountain range. The pink color is due to the presence of iron oxide. Himalayan Crystal Salt is the most beneficial, cleanest salt available!
There are many stories surrounding salt throughout American history. Salt is thought to be a major factor in the outcome of many wars fought on American soil. For example, during the Revolutionary War, the British used Americans who were loyal to the British crown to intercept the rebels’ salt supply. This action destroyed the rebels’ ability to preserve food. During the War of 1812, soldiers in the field received salt brine as payment because the government was too poor to pay them with money.
Himalayan Salt is commonly used in cooking, in bath products such as bath salts, and in preserving fish and some meats. Today we are using it to create a sweet and salty dark chocolate treat!
Rose and Pink Salt Chocolate Bark
2 cups American Heritage Chocolate Drink
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon Himalayan salt
2 tablespoons dried organic rose petals, crushed*
½ tablespoon Himalayan rock salt
*Dried edible rose petals can be substituted with organic dried lavender or dried chamomile
In microwave, melt 1 cup American Heritage Chocolate Drink for about 1-2 minutes, then add the remaining 1 cup of American Heritage Chocolate Drink and stir. Add in vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Stir until fully blended. Spread the mixture on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet, garnish with crushed rose petals and remaining salt. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
The hardness of the salt, the sweetness of the chocolate, and the texture of the rose petals completes the taste experience! Our Rose and Pink Salt Chocolate Bark makes a decadent treat for Mother’s Day (and every day!).
Wishing you a day that’s just as special as you are!
